Stanley Park Causeway

Were did the month of January go!?  I've survived my first month of photo blogging, although my poor iMac 27" seems to have taken a bit of a beating attempting to swallow and process all the images I have been feeding it.  Last night my little iMac went into a pout around midnight and I called it an evening.  Hence my last post of last month is being posted first thing Monday morning.


Wow!  An entire month of images, one a day for thirty-one days.  There were times when I wasn't too sure I'd fulfill my daily posting requirements, but after a rocky start I did find a rhythm to this mad quest.  Thinking so much about photography and attempting to determine what my daily image is going to be has certainly shifted the way I approach getting an image.


Now, as I walk down the street it's almost as if there is a little aperture implanted behind my eye, I see something and, "click" it's just been framed in my mind's eye as a photograph.  The fact that is happening on an increasingly subconscious level is very interesting to me.


Two of the best vehicles for me in achieving my goal have been the Langara Photography Program and Vancouver Photo Workshops.  The image demands of the classroom and workshop environments have really been productive to me.  And there is something very exciting about being immersed in a group dynamic where the focus (pun intended) is on photography.  Great instructors and and talented classmates are a real inspiration.


Adorama's iPhone Photo Contest has also a great source of inspiration to get out and get the shots, as have a number of the diverse Groups on Flickr.


Thanks to my friends and family for putting up with me.  Thankfully they're all well acquainted with my predilection for obsessions and they don't bat an eye when I show up with camera in hand or announce that I have to get my 'daily shot'.


Today's shot of the Stanley Park Causeway was a long exposure taken with the Nikon D700 and the 70-20mm f/2.8 VRII lens.


On to February, the month of love and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics!
