All in a Night's Work

Had a lovely three hour studio shoot at Langara for the Advanced Studio Lighting Course.  Three great models, Kevin, with whom I'd worked with before, Chris and Janelle.  We were dragging the shutter with the strobe, key shifting and flagging the strobe.... or something like that. My brain is a little tired again...

Any opinions on the best portrait?

Oh, and I got a great iPhone shot this morning of a pink toilet!

Did the portrait and studio work with my Nikon D700 and the 70-200mm VR f/2.8 VRII lens.

  1. Ooh, toss up between one and three. I love the drama of the first shot and the sultry attitude of the subject in third. As for the pink toilet, that just gives me shivers ;)

  3. Vince,
I like #2, I guess Chris. The first looked like an attempt to be arty, the 3rd almost a snap, the second was interestingly lit, and he's more of a "character model."

Oh, and the NY Times had a photo essay on a part of Vancouver - I thought photo 4 might be Cactus Jack's 3rd cousin: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/02/04/sports/olympics/20100205-EASTSIDE_4.html

  4. Thanks for the comments, Scooter. And it's always interesting to see the angles that news agencies take when covering a local community during an international event like the Olympics.
